Capsule Geology

The region of the Morraine occurrence is underlain by Early Jurassic granodiorite of the Cone Mountain Plutonic Suite which has intruded Upper Triassic volcanics and sediments of the Stuhini Group. A roof pendant of volcanic breccia about 600 metres long and 300 metres wide extends northeast from Dokdaon Creek.

Several narrow quartz-carbonate shear veins (up to 30 centimetres wide) were located. All the veins cut a weakly sheared hornblende-granodiorite. The predominant orientation of shearing and subsequent veining is east-west. Many of the veins, in addition to quartz and carbonate, carry minor amounts of pyrite and malachite and trace chalcopyrite mineralization. In most cases, gold values were negligible. One of the larger veins, a 0.3 metre wide quartz-carbonate shear vein, contained sulphide pods within the shear/vein structure. These pods locally swell to the full width of the vein, but are very lenticular and pinch out over short distances. A sample of the massive sulphide pod (sample 93345) which contained galena, sphalerite, pyrite and arsenopyrite mineralization assayed 1.03 grams per tonne gold, 28.0 grams per tonne silver, 0.04 per cent copper, 2.0 per cent lead and 1.7 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 20713).

Work History

The Marg East (104G 089) showing was originally located by prospectors working for Silver Standard Mines in 1957. Teck Corporation restaked, sampled and mapped the showing in 1980-81. At this time sampling and mapping of the adjacent Marg West (104G 089) showing was also undertaken. The Marg West showing is on the adjacent property (Canyon 24 claim) held by Homestake Mineral Development Company. This property was examined briefly in 1989. There is no record of any other work having been done in the immediate vicinity of the Ambition I and II claims in 1990.

In 1990, the owner of the Ambition claims was Goldbelt Mines and the operator was West Sea Development Corp. West Sea collected a total of 90 rock and 7 silt samples. They examined the Marg East claims and found the Creek and Morraine showings

In the late 2000s, five main areas of interest within the BRC Property of Brades Resources Ltd covered a large area between Dokdaon Creek and Yeheniko Creek. These are referred to as the Dok 35 area, the Teck Area, the Yeti Area, the Strata Creek Area, and the Yehiniko East Area. BRC carried out a preliminary exploration program in the fall of 2007 consisting of airborne geophysical surveys and a limited program of verification sampling. Airborne surveys were carried out by Fugro Airborne Surveys primarily in the Strata Creek area and verification sampling was carried out in the southwestern part of the claim group in the area referred to as the Teck area that contains the Marg West (104G 058) and Marg East (104G 089) showings (Assessment Report 30029). In 2010, Brades Resources completed detailed digital topographic maps of the Teck and Yeti areas and compiled all historic rock, soil and stream sampling data for the entire BRC Property. Later in 2010, Brades conducted detailed topographic mapping to cover additional parts of the BRC property and several helicopter assisted site visits were completed to verify mineralization reported in the central part of the BRC property. A total of 24 rock samples were collected. In late 2010 to January 2011 a detailed structural analysis of the Teck area and the Yeti area was carried out using shaded hillside imagery technology.
